February 24, 2026Shady Oaks Family Campground - Upgrade Connectivity - Mid-Season WiFi Overhaul
Shady Oaks had been operating with a limited Wi-Fi system that just couldn’t keep up with modern guest demands. With more campers working remotely, streaming content, and staying connected online, the need for a stronger, more reliable internet connection had become a top priority.
Upgrading Without the Downtime
One of the biggest hurdles for any in-season upgrade is minimizing disruption. At Shady Oaks, we were able to fully transition the park to a new gigabit Wi-Fi network with less than two hours of total downtime. This meant guests could stay online without interruption—even while we worked behind the scenes to bring in an entirely new infrastructure.
What’s Under the Hood
The new system is powered by Cambium Networks access points, offering fast and stable connections across the entire property. Even the campsites furthest from the core network now enjoy latency under 10ms, making activities like video calls, streaming, and online gaming smooth and consistent.
Behind the scenes, this involved careful planning, new pole installations, updated power distribution, and a streamlined switchover process—all tailored specifically to the layout and needs of Shady Oaks.
Meeting Modern Expectations
As more families hit the road and explore the outdoors, internet access has become a basic expectation at campgrounds – not a luxury. A strong, secure network isn’t just a convenience; it’s part of the overall guest experience. Projects like this one reflect a shift happening cross the industry, where campground owners are investing in infrastructure that supports both leisure and the needs of today’s connected traveler.
